When it comes to designing wedding stationery, we love getting creative. Some of our most creative pieces of work have come from couples who decided to opt for something a little out of the ordinary shall we say. At RickyDicky we love those who dare to be different – in fact we think the quirkier the better.
So here’s presenting 5 of our quirkiest wedding themes, which we hope will hopefully inspire you to get creative for your own big day.
It could be your favourite holiday destination, the location where you first laid eyes on each other or perhaps where you’ll be starting the rest of your lives together; either way you can choose any city in the world to create an original-looking and fun theme. For their New York theme, our couple went for bold, dark colours to represent the city’s buzzing night life and modern feel.
Do you share a love for a particular board game? Maybe Monopoly, Pictionary or Poker are more your thing? You can choose something as simple as a board of Scrabble to give your wedding celebrations a truly unique vibe, which is exactly what our couple went for. From the place cards to and favours, to the menu cards and table numbers, everything was coordinated to not only make the event look pretty, but to make it fun – especially if you ended up winning with a scrabble scratch card.
Anyone who is a fan of music will share a love for records, which was the theme for this particular couple’s reception. From the seating plan to the table name sign, everything was designed to give the event a more British contemporary vibe. While not everyone may share their love for David Bowie they definitely shared the couples excitement when they saw their quirky theme come to life.
For one couple it was their love of camper vans that bought them closer together so when they asked us to incorporate this theme into their wedding stationary our minds instantly started ticking away. We used classic reds and creams to go with the couple’s vintage theme and added a little humour to the cards with our very own take on a Mr and Mrs camper van set. You can use a hobby of yours to come up with a theme to match your personality.
Illustrated invitation cards always remain a favourite of ours so we were very excited when one particular couple asked us to incorporate their caricatures with an enchanted forest theme. From menu cards to words of wisdom postcards, the couple appeared in different backgrounds on the stationery in true Bollywood style. We mixed in some autumnal greens and fairy like stars to give them a truly mystical vibe. Caricatures can be used in so many ways to make your event memorable. You can appear in various different avatars including superheroes and other famous fictional characters.
